State Level Chess Competition 2025

Moments of State Level Chess Competition 2025 organised by West Bengal Labour Welfare Board held at Utsav Mancha, Kankurgachi & State Labour Institute on 13th sep and 14th sep,2025.

Dependu Barua, Grand Master was the chief guest of the inauguration programme of the Competition.Sumita Mukherjee, Hon'ble Welfare Commissioner & Special Labour Commissioner, West Bengal and others officials of the Welfare Board were present at the time of inauguration.After the inauguration ceremony, Chief Guest Dipendu Barua delivered a Valuable speech for all the contestants, Officials and audience. A Special documentary video regarding the history of chess in Bengal was telecasted and the initiative is appreciated very much. Total 110 players participated in this brain game and matches were played in seven round rapid format under the guidance and supervision of Debasish Barua, FIDE recognised Arbiter and his team. After a tough competition consisting of many ups and downs , the astonishing performances of many contestants, Anisha Biswas from Bongaon finally emerged as the State Champion by winning all the seven games. This competition has also set an example by dismantling the conventional barriers of age and sex and making it an open tournament for all. All the Contestants were given participation certificates and the champion and other two runners up have been honoured with certificates and other gifts including trophies. Apart from this, three more junior players were awarded with special gifts and trophies for their exceptionally good performance as child prodigy. Conducting such type of standard chess tournament was a maiden experience for the Board but with smart planning and proper coordination, finally this tournament was a grand success.
