STATE LEVEL ANNUAL SPORTS DAY - 2025

The West Bengal Labour Welfare Board is a statutory and autonomous body under Department of Labour, Government of West Bengal. The Board started its journey from 1st July, 1976. The Board administers the West Bengal Labour Welfare Fund and promotes welfare amongst the working class community of the state of West Bengal. The Board has Hon'ble Minister in Charge, Labour Department, Govt. of West Bengal as the Chairman and members from the employers, trade unions representatives.

The Board collects contributions from the employees and the employers of the establishments and other statutory revenues under the West Bengal Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1974. The Board with the fund, so collected, implements various Labour Welfare Schemes for the benefits of workers who are paying contribution to the Labour Welfare Fund.

The Board operates its activities through the Labour Welfare Centers situated in labour intensive areas of the State. It undertakes different activities for the welfare of the workers and their families. Vocational Training, Sports, both indoor and outdoor and cultural activities are carried out at the Centers. The Model Welfare Centers have auditorium for cultural and social functions. Besides the Board observes special days -May Day, Independence Day, Republic Day and such others with due dignity.

Like every year this year Annual Sports Program has been held in every centers and thereafter the State level Annual Sports is held on 27th January, 2025 at IB Block Sports Ground, Salt Lake, Kolkata from 10 am onwards in presence of officials of Labour welfare Board, local people's representatives as Guests of Honour.

Approximately 1500 participants from workers and their family members from all over the State participated in 18 events.
