North Bengal Football tournament 2015

The football tournament in the North Bengal Region was successfully organised on 25/07/2015 at the ground of Dagapur Tea Estate by the West Bengal Labour Welfare Board.

The Tournament was played between nine teams who were the champions of (9) nine different tournaments organised by (9) nine Labour Welfare Centres during the last one month. As many as 74 Tea Gardens participated in the tournament compared to 60 Tea Gardens in the last year.

The final phase of the tournament was inaugurated by Sri Gautam Deb, Hon’ble Minister-in- Charge, North Bengal Development Department, Government of West Bengal. Sri Soumitra Kundu, Member of the West Bengal Labour Board was also present in the programme. Sri Partha Pratim Bhaumik, Welfare Commissioner of West Bengal Labour Welfare Board was also present in the programme and awarded trophies and prizes to the winner and runners-up teams. Dagapur Tea Garden won the title defeating Kamala Tea Garden in the final match. A large number of spectators enjoyed the day long football tournament.

North Bengal May Day 2015

May Day, 2015 (North Bengal Zone) has been conducted at Dinabandhu Mancha, Siliguri. Sri Gautam Deb, Hon’ble Minister-In-Charge, North Bengal Development Department, Government of West Bengal has graced the occasion as Guest-In-Chief. Labour Commissioner, West Bengal presided over the function. Besides, Welfare Commissioner, Joint Labour Commissioner, North Bengal Region, Joint Welfare Commissioner and other officers of the Labour Department attended the programme as respected guests and distributed cheques of scholarship/stipend & other benefits to the working people of the North Bengal Region. A cultural programme has also been presented by different Labour Welfare Centres of North Bengal Region.

Football tournament of South Bengal, 2015

May Day, 2015 (Central Programme) has been observed at Khudiram Anushilan Kendra, Kolkata. Sri Moloy Ghatak, Hon’ble Minister-In-Charge, Labour Department and Chairman of the Board presided over the function. Sri Subrata Mukherjee, Hon’ble Minister-In-Charge, Panchayat & Public Health Engineering Department graced the occasion as Guest-In-Chief. Scholarship/stipend cheques have been distributed to the beneficiaries by the Hon’ble guests. A cultural programme has been presented by different labour welfare centres. “NACHIKETA” the eminent singer has presented an entertaining programme on the occasion.

Central May Day, 2015

Football tournament in the South Bengal Region was successfully organized in different play grounds. Final game was played on 26/06/2015 at the playground of Bidhannagar Municipal Sports’ Complex, Salt Lake. Calcutta Tramways Company (1978) ltd won the Champion’s trophy and Tractors India Limited has been runners-up. Sri Swapan Sengupta, eminent footballer and Sri Partha Paratim Bhaumik, Welfare Commissioner awarded the prizes to the winners and runners-up.
