Programme on ESI Day, 2013
Every year 24th day of February is observed as E.S.I. day. This year at the instance of Labour Department, Government of West Bengal the day was observed in a different way. This year, the State Level Programme was organized jointly by the State Government and E.S.I. Corporation at Durgapur on 24/02/2013. The occasion presented an opportunity for generation of awareness about various Social Security Schemes of the Labour Department, Government of West Bengal. The West Bengal Labour Welfare Board was also called upon to participate in the programme. The programme was graced by the presence of Hon'ble Minister-in-Charge, Labour Department, Government of West Bengal, Shri Purnendu Basu who addressed a packed auditorium in the Indoor Stadium, Durgapur and explained at length the steps taken by the Labour Department, Government of West Bengal towards Social Security of workers and also expressed his expectation from the E.S.I. Corporation regarding Medical Facilities. Stalls were set up in the venue by different departments including the West Bengal Labour Welfare Board to demonstrate the activities carried out for the welfare of the working people.
